Long Island ex-con charged with killing friend and hiding corpse in closet for a week

A Long Island lunatic murdered his next-door neighbor, tried to chop off the victim's head with an ax and then stashed the bludgeoned body in a closet for a week, authorities said. Aston Barth, 33, told cops that he choked his buddy Jason Campbell, 35, in the bedroom of Barth's Central Islip home Dec. 18 after the two had an argument, said Suffolk County assistant district attorney Glenn Kurtzrock. The crazed criminal then grabbed an ax and tried to cut off Campbell's head, officials said, citing Barth’s confession to police. "He struck the victim in the neck in attempt to dismember his body," Kurtzrock said. "Then he either realized he wouldn't be able to do it or he changed his mind.”
