Siberian tiger kills zookeeper in Germany as group of patrons watch in horror

A German zookeeper was killed by a Siberian tiger as horrified patrons watched from outside the enclosure, officials said. The 56-year-old worker, identified only as Martin H., was attacked by the 10-year-old tiger, Rasputin, during a public feeding of the big cats in the Allwetterzoo Muenster on Thursday, officials said. The blood spilled after the worker may have improperly latched a lock while moving Rasputin with at least one other tiger to another enclosure, officials said. A group of people had gathered to watch the caged animals eat when the tiger jumped the keeper from behind and killed him with “a targeted neck bite,” said a fire department spokesman, Dieter Knaack, according to United Press International.
