A father-of-two was knocked down and killed by a police car as it responded to an emergency call.
Vincent Gibson, 50, died after he was struck by the marked vehicle in South Shields, South Tyneside.
Two police officers were also injured in the crash, which happened just before 10.30pm on Saturday night.
A Northumbria Police spokesman said its blue flashing lights and sirens were turned on at the time.
