Hollywood legend Tony Scott dead at 68: Top Gun director, who was brother of Ridley, commits suicide in jump from Los Angeles bridge

Hollywood director Tony Scott has plunged to his death from a Los Angeles bridge after penning a suicide note and leaving information in his car for police to contact his wife. The 68-year-old, who directed popular films including Top Gun, Beverly Hills Cop II and Enemy Of The State, died after leaping from the the Vincent Thomas Bridge at around 12.30pm on Sunday. The death of the British-born director, who is the younger brother of director Ridley Scott, is being investigated as a suicide and an autopsy has been planned, the LA Coroner's office said. Scott was in the early stages of planning a Top Gun sequel with Tom Cruise and producer Jerry Bruckheimer at the time of his death. On Friday, Cruise toured a naval Air Station nearby in Fallon, Nevada, as part of preparation work for the film.
