Dentist killed walker, 60, and his dog seconds after sending message while driving

A dentist is facing up to five years in prison today after knocking down and killing a man walking his dog while she was sending a text message. Stuart Mather, 60, and his dog, a Scottish terrier called Hamish, were killed near Higham, Lancashire, when Kay Nolan sent the text message. She had earlier pulled into a layby to compose the text message but did not send it until later.
