Man arrested after wife's decomposed body found in bag in Yokohama apartment

YOKOHAMA — Police in Yokohama on Tuesday arrested a 70-year-old man after the remains of his wife were found in a vinyl bag in their apartment. According to police, the remains were found in an apartment in Isogo Ward on Monday afternoon. The occupants were Isao Kinoshita and his wife Wakako. NTV reported that Wakako had not been seen for about three years. Police went to the apartment after a relative expressed concern. The decomposed body was in one of many plastic bags scattered around the apartment. Police said a DNA test showed it to be that of Wakako and that she had died about three years ago. Police found Isao at a pachinko parlor near JR Yokohama Station. He was quoted as saying that he had strangled his wife to death in 2009 because she was gravely ill. There was also a note in his apartment in which he confessed to killing his wife.
