Kyle Dube, 20, is alleged to have used a fake Facebook account to lure Nichole Cable, 15, who had previously rejected his advances, out of her home in Maine, USA.
The girl thought she was meeting a different friend and Dube then jumped out of woods wearing a ski mask and abducted her, a police affidavit said.
He duct-taped her and put her in the back of his father's pickup truck, intending to later "rescue" her.
But he then discovered she was dead so he dumped her body and covered it with branches, police alleged.
The cause of her death was unclear and still being determined by a medical examiner, but according to one report the duct-tape may have suffocated her.
