LAKE FOREST, Calif. -- A 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of beating and duct-taping his wife during an argument inside their Lake Forest home.
Alireza Sazegari turned himself in to authorities Monday and was booked on charges of witness intimidation, spousal abuse, kidnapping and assault with a deadly weapon, according to sheriff's spokesman Jim Amormino.
He was being held on $150,000 bail.
Orange County sheriff's deputies were called to the couple's home in the 25000 block of Rivendell Dr. last Wednesday morning after the wife's friend found her beaten and bound in duct tape inside a bathroom.
The 30-year-old wife told authorities her husband frequently beat her and didn't let her leave the house unless he was with her or she went to work, according to investigators.
She was also reportedly limited to specific rooms in the house.
She told investigators her husband became angry after she spoke to another man and forced her to call in sick at work.
He also allegedly threatened to kill her if she left the bathroom or contacted police.
Deputies found several cameras inside the house that had the capability of being remotely monitored, Amormino said.
The wife suffered minor injuries in the ordeal.
