Ramiro C. Lozano, World's Dumbest Child Pornographer, Gets 20 Years

Most child pornographers are caught when law enforcement gains access to private, secure web groups.

Then there are the child pornographers who get caught when they pass out on the side of the road in a car filled with their sick handiwork.

Ramiro C. Lozano, 47, of Brownsville -- a school choir director -- was part of that second, more idiotic group, and as a result he's been sentenced to almost 20 years in federal prison, the U.S. Attorney's office announced today.

Lozano pleaded guilty to sexually exploiting children by, as the USAO says, by "having persuaded, induced, enticed and coerced three then-13-year-old boys to engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of producing a visual depiction of the conduct."

Vile enough. But then the stupidity comes in.

Initially, Weslaco Police Department (WPD) officers arrested Lozano on Dec. 21, 2008, for public intoxication after finding him asleep in his car parked along the side of a road. An inventory search of Lozano's car resulted in officers discovering several pornographic DVDs along with a laptop computer and a digital camera containing numerous images of child pornography.

Lozano admitted the items were his and to having taken the photographs depicting three young boys exposing their genitals, including their penises and testicles.

The boys were interviewed and police discovered the pictures were taken at their school.

U.S. District Judge Hilda Tagle set the sentence, which was passed down today.
