A 19-year-old Titusville man was arrested Tuesday night after police said he stole a disabled woman's purse as he opened the door for her at a restaurant.
Demetrice Alexander Smith was arrested on charges of robbery and resisting arrest, Titusville police said. He also is a suspect in two similar robberies that happened in the past day or so, they said.
Tuesday's victim was going into Village Inn restaurant on South Washington Avenue (U.S. Highway 1) about 6:45 p.m. when Smith grabbed her purse and ran, police said. He was arrested soon after.
Officers are investigating an attempted purse snatching at Walgreens an hour earlier and at Rotary Riverfront Park on Monday, they said.
Smith was arrested last year in Titusville on charges of cocaine possession, loitering and prowling, burglary and resisting arrest. Court records show adjudication was withheld, which means that if he stayed out of trouble, no conviction would appear on his record.

"He who can, does. He who cannot, teaches."
"Being is substance and life; life manifests by movement; movement is perpetuated by equilibrium; equilibrium is therefore the law of immortality.
"The doctrine of equality!... But there exists no more poisonous poison: for it seems to be preached by justice itself, while it is the end of justice.... "Equality for equals, inequality for unequals" that would be the true voice of justice: and, what follows from it, "Never make equal what is unequal."
