HUNTINGTON BEACH -- A 65-year-old woman is charged with six felony counts including DUI after she allegedly hit her fiance, twice with her car.
Police say it started with an argument in the beach parking lot at Pacific Coast Highway and Sixth Street in Huntington Beach around 7:45 p.m. Friday.
According to a police report, Maureen Geddie got into her car, backed it up and struck her fiance, knocking him to the ground.
As the unidentified man tried to get up, she struck him again, according to the police report.
Investigators say she attempted to hit him a third time, but onlookers were able to pull him out of the way.
After leaving the parking lot, Geddie was approached by police officers while she waited at a stop light.
Officers say Gettie ran the red light and tried to run over the officers in an attempt to get away.
Two officers in a patrol car got behind her vehicle and there was a short pursuit.
The driver ran another red light at PCH and First Street before colliding with another vehicle, the report said.
At that point, Geddie surrendered to the police.
She was booked at the city jail on charges of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, hit and run, and driving under the influence of alcohol.
