Police say two people killed a woman and buried her body on her parent's property in Sydney's south-west.

Police say six people gathered at the Lakesland property in early May and only five left. It is alleged two of them - a man and a woman - murdered 33-year-old Colleen Deborah Ayers, whose parents owned the home.

Police say Ms Ayers died a violent death. Police were called last week when her parents arrived home from a three-week holiday to find their daughter missing and at least one gun stolen.

Officers arrived and a search of the property revealed that the woman's body had been buried in a grave.
