A mother accused of kicking her three-year-old down an apartment stairwell and beating her with a belt faces felony charges. Lashonda Cummings, 24, from Tulsa, Oklahoma, was charged with child abuse by injury, court records show. A caller alerted police after seeing Cummings attack the child on July 28 at the Highland Park Apartments, according to the arrest report.

Police found the girl naked, wet and shaking beneath a blanket inside the apartment with multiple lacerations to her back, shoulders, arm and head, according to the report. Cummings reportedly told police the girl tried to run off and wouldn't listen, so she punished her with a belt.
