CHIBA —
Nine carp have been killed in a public park in Ichihara, Chiba Prefecture, police said Thursday.
According to park authorities, the fish were found at around 2 p.m. on Wednesday. TV Asahi reported that several of the fish had been torn open and others had fireworks rockets inserted in their mouths.
The park manager said, “It’s a shocking sight. If there’s someone out there who feels killing living things is a game, that is horrific.”
According to police, four small dogs were found killed in Ichihara on May 13 and eight months ago, five cats were found dead after they ingested food that had been laced with poison and left in public places.
Police are currently investigating a possible connection between the crimes.
