A mother who starved her four-year-old son before beating him to death tried to cover up what she had done by telling police she had been raped, a court heard today.
Daniel Pelka, who died from a massive blow to the head on March 3 last year, was so emaciated in the weeks before his death teachers said he resembled a cancer victim.
A jury at Birmingham Crown Court today heard his mother Magdalena Luczak, 27, told officers she had been raped by her partner Mariusz Krezolek, 34, at their Coventry home in a bid to 'save her skin' after she was arrested for her son's murder.
