An 11-year-old Dallas girl viciously stabbed a family member nine times while her victim slept Saturday morning.
The child, who was not identified, told police she was angry to be at her home when a family member Toshia Edmonson who allegedly shoved the girl into a sofa and threatened to give her away, police told the Dallas Morning News.
The girl then waited for Edmonson to go to sleep, took a knife and stabbed her repeatedly in the head, neck and shoulder, the newspaper reported.
Edmonson woke up screaming and fought the girl, eventually grabbing the knife and falling on top of her, police said.
Police were called to the home and found Edmonson on the floor covered in blood, the newspaper reported.
Edmonson is listed in serious but stable condition, the newspaper reported.
