Geoffrey Farrar, 69, was bludgeoned with the climbing tool by pal David DiPaolo at Carderock Park in Maryland after a heated argument. Farrar's death had been ruled an accident, as DiPaolo fled the state, but a medical examiner's assessment declared foul play had been involved. After DiPaolo was arrested, he confessed to the killing.
