A daughter who helped her elderly parents carry out their suicide pact told a coroner today how she stood in 'stunned silence' watching them die after giving them both poison.
Retired doctor David Arnold, 82, and his wife Elizabeth, 85, from Newbury in Berkshire, decided to end their lives when he became a bed-bound amputee and she was diagnosed with dementia and Alzheimer’s.
After one failed attempt to commit suicide and a rejection from the Dignitas euthanasia clinic in Switzerland, the couple enlisted the help of their daughter, Georgina Roberts, 59, who admitted purchasing drugs and preparing them for her parents 'when they were ready to go together'.

"He who can, does. He who cannot, teaches."
"Being is substance and life; life manifests by movement; movement is perpetuated by equilibrium; equilibrium is therefore the law of immortality.
"The doctrine of equality!... But there exists no more poisonous poison: for it seems to be preached by justice itself, while it is the end of justice.... "Equality for equals, inequality for unequals" that would be the true voice of justice: and, what follows from it, "Never make equal what is unequal."
