New Orleans-area cops shoot man 29 times after he kills girlfriend

Jefferson Parish sheriff’s deputies shot a Louisiana man 29 times in a suicide by cop after he stabbed to death his girlfriend following a breakup. Noah Scott, 29, opened the door of his Metairie home to police while holding a cigarette in one hand and the knife he used to kill Jessica Broussard in the other, The Times-Picayune reported. “Just do it. Shoot me,” he reportedly urged cops as he dragged on the butt and lunged at officers. Three cops unleashed a barrage of 35 or 36 bullets, striking the unhinged killer 29 times.

The man had self-inflicted cuts on his neck and left all four gas stove burners on in the suburban home. "With the slight laceration to the neck, the gas being turned on, this individual, Mr. Scott, got to a point where, obviously, he no longer wanted to live and lunged at our officers with a knife," Jefferson Parish Sheriff Newell Normand told The Times-Picayune.

The bloodshed began around 10 p.m. Saturday when a bloody, fatally stabbed Broussard stumbled from the home yelling. “He’s stabbing me!” she cried, neighbors told WVUE-TV. She “ended up on my front lawn, and he was over her, continuing to stab her,” Pier Ave. resident Mindy Durr told the TV station. Scott had stabbed his girlfriend seven times in the head, neck and back. She’d also been choked, cops told The Times-Picayune. Scott had prior drug arrests and both had addiction issues with heroin, family members told the New Orleans newspaper. Officer had responded to Scott’s home the year before during a domestic incident where the convicted drug dealer strangled his girlfriend until she passed out.
