The victims were found in a national park near Ile-Alatau National Park in southern Almaty Province, near the border with China and Kyrgyzstan. Two corpses were found inside a local 76-year-old park ranger's house and were identified as his 53-year-old common-law wife and his 60-year-old employee. The ranger himself, another 43-year-old male and a 73-year-old female were found dead nearby. All victims had multiple stab wounds. Police are currently identifying the other six victims. The Interior ministry said that police had not yet established a motive for the crime. Guns, jewellery and a safe containing the equivalent of more than £10,000 inside the ranger's house were not touched.

"He who can, does. He who cannot, teaches."
"Being is substance and life; life manifests by movement; movement is perpetuated by equilibrium; equilibrium is therefore the law of immortality.
"The doctrine of equality!... But there exists no more poisonous poison: for it seems to be preached by justice itself, while it is the end of justice.... "Equality for equals, inequality for unequals" that would be the true voice of justice: and, what follows from it, "Never make equal what is unequal."
