KANAGAWA — Police said Monday they have arrested a 56-year-old man in Atsugi, Kanagawa Prefecture, for allegedly killing his 84-year-old mother. Masaru Takanashi is accused of punching and killing his mother, Teru Takanashi, at their home on Sunday morning. Fuji TV reported that Takanashi called the police himself to report the incident. Police say he was arrested at the scene and taken into custody. Takanashi was quoted by police as saying he punched his mother because she wouldn’t go out and buy breakfast, Fuji reported.
