FUKUOKA — A man in Fukuoka has been arrested for allegedly murdering his wife’s friend at his apartment after a divorce mediation session. According to police, Yoshihide Kawase, 27, allegedly stabbed to death 28-year-old Risa Kiura at his home at around 11:40 p.m. on Wednesday. Fuji TV reported Friday that Kiura had been at the apartment to support Kawase’s wife—her friend—who has attempting to discuss an amicable divorce settlement with her husband but was afraid for her personal safety due to several instances of domestic violence. After the 30-minute meeting ended, Kawase is alleged to have stabbed Kiura multiple times in the neck and stomach with a kitchen knife. Kiura later died from her injuries. Police say Kawase has confessed to the murder.
