A toddler on the New South Wales north coast is recovering from a terrifying ordeal after being attacked by a python. The two-year-old was squeezed and bitten by the 185-centimetre non-venomous carpet snake in her Lismore home over the weekend. San Joaquin County jurors yesterday found Devon Epps guilty of murder, as well as murder by torture and rape. Epps, from Stockton, was arrested after an apartment manager found the badly decomposed body of 35-year-old Veronica Jones in a bathtub in December 2011. At the time, Jones had been missing for six months. Jones, a mother-of-ten, was bludgeoned in the head with a metal table pedestal, raped with a foreign object and stabbed 32 times. Her body was stashed in the bathtub. According to authorities, her face had been beaten beyond recognition.

The 'crooked' businessman who ran a security guard company, made profits of over £6million exploiting illegal immigrants who were forced to work around the clock on a pittance and live in cramped caravans and huts sleeping on the floor.

To avoid paying VAT, income tax and national insurance, William hid the profits into a number of bank accounts including his charity account named 'The Great Commission Evangelical Fellowship'. But the money was then withdrawn in cash and laundered by his wife and daughters, Sylvia, 34, who worked for Lloyds Bank, Maria Gunasekara, 33, a business manager for Barclays and their younger sister Sophie, 26, a law graduate. The father of six also splashed out on luxury sports cars and frequent trips to Dubai and Pakistan. A pastor's wife bought a pistol from a gun shop before shooting herself dead in her Lexus sedan in the store's parking lot, police have said. Urinating man killed by subway train

The man was urinating by the edge of the platform at the Medborgarplatsen station in Stockholm's Södermalm district at around 1am. He slipped, fell on the tracks and got hit by an onrushing train, Lars-Erik Hedberg of the Södermalm police told Radio Stockholm. He probably died instantly, said Hedberg. Police suspect the 21-year-old could have been drunk.

Sleepy village left in shock as pensioner held after wife, 70, is found strangled

21 missing Pakistani policemen found shot dead

PESHAWAR, Pakistan (AP) — Twenty-one tribal policemen believed to have been kidnapped by the Taliban were found shot dead in Pakistan's troubled northwest tribal region early Sunday, government officials said. Officials found the bodies shortly after midnight in the Jabai area of Frontier Region Peshawar after being notified by one policeman who escaped, said Naveed Akbar Khan, a top political official in the area. Woman arrested for stabbing her child to death in Saitama

SAITAMA — One child died and another was seriously injured after their mother stabbed them with a kitchen knife at their Saitama home earlier this month, police said Saturday. According to police, 34-year-old nursing home employee Atsuko Kurihara was arrested for murder and attempted murder after stabbing her sons at her home in the early hours of Dec 19, Fuji TV reported. Her 5-month-old son was killed in the attack, while her 2-year-old son sustained serious injuries. Kurihara then attempted to commit suicide by stabbing herself in the abdomen, police said. Fuji reported that she was taken to hospital following the incident and discharged on Friday, at which point she was arrested. During police questioning, Kurihara was quoted as saying that she didn’t want to live but has so far given no motive for her actions.
