At least seven children, believed to be orphans, were killed in a fire at a privately run orphanage in central China's Henan Province, the official Xinhua News Agency said. The fire, which broke out about 8:30am (local time) at the home in Lankao county, was put out in two hours, according to the report, which said four children died at the scene and three others succumbed to their injuries on the way to hospital.
