A police officer answering an emergency call was killed when the patrol car he was driving crashed into a tree. The officer, who has not yet been named, died at the scene after the crash at 7pm yesterday in the village of West Tanfield, near Ripon, North Yorkshire. North Yorkshire Police said that members of the policeman's family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers. The road was closed for several hours following the crash and a full investigation into what happened has been launched.

"He who can, does. He who cannot, teaches."
"Being is substance and life; life manifests by movement; movement is perpetuated by equilibrium; equilibrium is therefore the law of immortality.
"The doctrine of equality!... But there exists no more poisonous poison: for it seems to be preached by justice itself, while it is the end of justice.... "Equality for equals, inequality for unequals" that would be the true voice of justice: and, what follows from it, "Never make equal what is unequal."
