A beloved elderly couple were slain in their home over the weekend during an apparent home invasion, leaving family and members of the community shocked to the core. David Bouwman, 81, and his wife Vivian, 80, were found dead at their Grand Rapids home on Saturday morning after police discovered their burned out Cadillac DeVille in neighboring Wyoming. The Bouwmans - who have been married for more than 50 years - are believed to have been killed between 7pm on Friday and 8am on Saturday in their two-story suburban home. Everyone who knew the couple, who were active in the local church and community, said they cannot believe anyone would want to kill them.
