An Illinois man who was reportedly dying from cancer was caught on Wednesday in a suicide-by-cop plot.
Howard R. Lazarus walked into a Vernon Hills police station brandishing a fake handgun. An officer shot and wounded the 53-year-old, only to discover later that he was trying to die.
