Police said Monday they have arrested a 56-year-old unemployed man for allegedly killing his 77-year-old mother at their apartment in Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture.
According to police, the suspect, identified as Kiyoshi Aratake, turned himself in at a nearby police station at around 9:40 a.m. Sunday, TV Asahi reported. When police went to the apartment, they found the body of his mother, Fujiko Aratake, in the bathtub.
According to Aratake, he had an argument with his mother and choked her to death at around midnight. Police said that Aratake had been living with his mother since April and they had ongoing arguments since then.
