World War Two veteran, 88, dies after being brutally beaten by two teenagers in 'random attack' in parking lot

A World War Two veteran nicknamed 'Shorty' who served in the Battle of Okinawa was brutally beaten by two men and left to die outside his regular bar in Spokane, Washington, on Wednesday. Delbert Belton, 88, who was injured during the pivotal battle of the Pacific campaign, passed away from serious head injuries on Thursday at Sacred Heart Medical Center in the city. Witnesses to the attack said that Belton was walking inside the Eagles Lodge to play pool at around 8 p.m. when two male suspects set upon him. Police hurriedly responded to the sickening attack with K-9 units to track the two men but have not yet located them.
