Police have arrested a man in Ogaki, Gifu Prefecture, for the alleged murder of his wife.
According to police, Seiji Kobori, 50, was arrested Wednesday for the murder of his 44-year-old wife Chiyomi at their home, TBS reported. Police believe Kobori beat his wife to death with an iron bar while she was asleep in the living room. He is then alleged to have called the police, claiming that a burglar had broken into their apartment and stolen cash from their kitchen in an attempt to pin her death on the fictional intruder.
Police said Kobori has confessed to the murder. They said the murder weapon was retrieved from a nearby river, TBS reported. When questioned about his motive for killing his wife, Kobori was quoted by police as saying, “We were fighting over the best way to raise our daughter.”
