Two shot dead, another injured at North Carolina's Wingate University as campus goes into lockdown

The lockdown put in place this evening at Wingate University near to Charlotte, North Carolina after two people were shot dead and a third airlifted to hospital has been lifted. Union County Sheriff's officials issued an 'all clear' at the university around 8.45 pm, nearly two and a half hours after the 'shelter in place' warning was first issued. The deadly shooting occurred along E. Wilson Street which is near the entrance to the campus at around 6 pm and two people were confirmed dead at the scene - and authorities indicated that no University students or employees were believed to be involved.
