A young Chinese boy viciously stabbed himself in the stomach with needles after scoring 99% on an end-of-school exam.
The 9-year-old, from Harbin in Heilongjiang Province, reportedly rammed four metal skewers into his abdomen in frustration at missing out on full marks.
He said he was angry at failing 1% of the test and needed to self-punish to atone.
His father revealed he first noticed lumps on his son's stomach as he was bathing but could not get a closer look.
Then, several days later, the youngster started suffering crippling stomach pains.
