Four teenage Taliban with miniature guns hidden in their socks storm 'Kabul's safest hotel' and kill nine including four foreigners in restaurant shoot-out

-Attack began at 6pm, when guests heard gunfire from the restaurant

-Four Taliban fighters had entered through the back door, injuring guards

-Began shooting inside Serena Hotel, prompting Afghan troops to mobilise

-After a three-hour standoff, all three teenage fighters were killed

-The Taliban has taken responsibility for the attack in Afghanistan capital

-Attack was intended to harm foreign nationals and dignitaries

-Hotel is known as 'safest in Kabul' due to upgrades after 2008 terror attack

-Hotel popular with UN and foreign nationals staying ahead of elections

-Attack followed Taliban attack in Jalalabad which killed 11 people
