The badly-decomposed body of a man who had died several months previously, was found in the toilets of a disused office building in the southern French city of Grenoble, it was reported on Thursday. The grim discovery was made late on Wednesday afternoon when the new occupant of the office found a door locked on the fourth floor. Breaking the lock, he discovered the lifeless body of a man who appeared to be homeless, but whose age was difficult to establish, such was the advanced level of decomposition. The building, on rue du Doyen-Louis-Weil, in the Europole district of Grenoble, was vacated some months ago. It possible the deceased had been lying dead since the beginning of the year, according to regional daily Le Dauphiné Libéré.

After Wakefield's appeal and several posts by the autism activist site Age of Autism, an anonymous donor gave Spourdalakis funds that allowed her to leave the hospital with Alex. She wrote in a March blog post she would make sure Alex received 'appropriate medical attention.' Less than three months later, police say, Spourdalakis and his godmother and caretaker Jolanta Agatha Skrodzka could no longer handle round-the-clock care for Alex because they believed the 200-pound teen's 'emotional condition had worsened' since he was removed from the hospital.

Ramirez, who terrorized Southern California in 1984 and ’85 with a series of murders and rapes, died at Marin General Hospital of natural causes, according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

Satanic symbols were left at murder scenes by Ramirez, who entered homes through unlocked windows and doors. He was captured Aug. 31, 1985, after being identified and severely beaten by an angry mob in East Los Angeles as he was trying to steal a car. Police had to break up the mob to prevent them from possibly killing Ramirez. He was convicted Sept. 20, 1989, of killing 13 people and was awaiting execution on death row. Ramirez was 53 years old.

Briar told Canada’s National Post that he saw one boy put another boy in a headlock. Then Briar, who attends Sir John A. Macdonald Junior High School, heard the flick of a knife. He wasn’t trying to play a hero when he pushed the knife-wielding bully away from his classmate. But school officials accused him of exactly that. His mother, Leah O’Donnell, said that the school’s vice-principal told her that the school doesn’t “condone heroics” and a teacher should always be called in such situations. Briar was reprimanded for helping out his fellow student.

The bully was suspended and the police were called. Some bullying experts say that the school should be commending—not punishing—Briar for his actions. “By reprimanding Briar, the administration is demonstrating to bullies that students who intervene will be reprimanded,” Richard Brenner, author of 101 Tips for Targets of Workplace Bullies, told TakePart. “This can only encourage bullies.” Brenner said the school appears to have its own problems since it was possible for “a bully to engage a target with a teacher in the room.” He added, “This administration is sorely in need of some education about bullying policy.”

MEXICO CITY (AP) — Two gunmen stormed into a gym and killed four people in a tough Mexico City neighborhood that is home to the area's biggest black market, authorities said Thursday. Mexico City Mayor Miguel Angel Mancera said three men who were exercising were killed at the scene and the fourth man, identified as the gym owner, died later in the hospital. The shooting happened in the Body Extreme gym in Tepito, one of Mexico City's most dangerous neighborhoods. Mancera said the gunfire appeared to be targeted at the first three men, and the business owner was shot after confronting the armed men. Agents found six bullet shells inside the building. "It was a direct attack. There were about 30 people at this place," he said. Police later detained two people who were armed and in the same neighborhood. Texas farmer stung to death by killer bees

A farmer near Waco, Texas, was killed by a swarm of about 40,000 killer bees after he drove by their hive on Saturday. The Waco Herald-Tribune reports that the victim, Larry Goodwin, was on his tractor and hit an unused chicken coop which housed the hive and the lethal Africanized honey bees attacked. Goodwin's family told NBC station KCEN of Waco that every bit of exposed skin was covered with stings. "He had thousands and thousands of bee stings on his face and arms," his daughter Tanya told KCEN. Goodwin of Moody, Tex., tried to save himself by running to a garden hose but was unsuccessful. A neighbour who tried to help, along with responding volunteer firefighters, were also stung several times by the aggressive bees.

FUKUOKA — A woman was killed and her husband injured by a man who attacked them with a knife and burned down their home in Chikujo, Fukuoka Prefecture on Saturday, police said. The survivor of the blaze, 65-year-old Toshiyuki Yamamoto was taken to hospital for deep lacerations on his left wrist and neck, TBS reported Monday. One eyewitness told reporters that the cuts to his wrist were so deep that his hand had almost been severed. As he was being taken to hospital, Yamamoto reportedly told emergency workers that he and his wife had been attacked by a man in their home, police said. From the burned remains of the house, police recovered the body of Yamamoto’s 64-year-old wife Tomiko, who died after having her throat cut, they said.
