A high school student who was just days away from her 18th birthday was shot dead in the bedroom of her home on Wednesday morning.
Police are investigating the death of Aquilla Flood, from East Orange, New Jersey, after a relative found her in a pool of blood in her own bed just before 7.30am.
The 17-year-old spent Tuesday evening shopping for shoes for her upcoming prom with her mother and grandmother before going to bed as normal.
