A man has been found guilty of bashing his girlfriend to death and dumping her body in a car on the side of a road. The body of Katherine Dulchie Towner, 28, was found covered with a quilt in the passenger seat of a car next to a dirt road outside Strathalbyn, south of Adelaide, in April 2011. During a trial in the South Australian Supreme Court, prosecutors said her partner, Jason Lee Gardiner, 33, had caused Ms Towner serious injuries, including a tear to her liver, when he bashed her. The court was told the pair had a volatile and toxic relationship and Gardiner had previously served time in custody for assaulting Ms Towner.
