Boy, 4, crushed to death by tree as severe weather across the U.S brings flash flooding, power cuts and a tornado in the capital

Two people, including a four-year-old boy, have been killed as a massive storm system brought torrential rain and strong winds to the Mid-Atlantic on Thursday, causing flash flooding and bringing three tornadoes to Maryland. The storm hit the U.S. capital during evening rush hour, knocking trees on to houses, cutting power to thousands of homes and traffic signals and briefly closing a bridge to Maryland. Three tornadoes were reported in and around Maryland, but none caused significant damage.
