The remains of a mother of three who led a double life as an escort have been discovered four and a half years after she disappeared from Grand Junction, Colorado.

Hikers exploring a dry creek bed found a full skeleton and along with personal belongings in a remote area about 30 miles from Grand Junction on Tuesday afternoon.

Investigators quickly identified the bones as Paige Birgfeld, who vanished in late June 2007 while she was returning home from a trip out of town.

BRIDGEPORT -- A deaf Fairfield man pleaded guilty Tuesday to sexually assaulting his deaf daughter.

A 95-year-old Chinese woman thought to have passed away stunned her neighbours - after waking up six days after she had been placed in a coffin.

Li Xiufeng was found motionless and not breathing in bed by a neighbour two weeks after tripping and suffering a head injury at her home in Beiliu, Guangxi Province.

When the neighbour who found her could not wake the pensioner up, they feared the worst and thought the elderly woman had passed away.

She was placed in a coffin which was kept in her house unsealed under Chinese tradition for friends and relatives to pay respects.

But the day before the funeral, neighbours found an empty coffin, and later discovered the 95-year-old, who had since woken up, in her kitchen cooking.

The death of an baby boy who contracted herpes has been linked to a controversial circumcision ritual.

The two-week-old infant was struck with the disease after being circumcised as part of an Orthodox Jewish ceremony.

During the ritual, the presiding rabbi removes blood from the cut using his mouth.

The practice persists despite the health risks, with babies at risk of contracting diseases which are relatively harmless to adults but could be fatal for children.

Businessman, 57, found dead, bound and gagged in ransacked NY apartment

A man was found murdered in his Chelsea apartment in New York on Friday night, with his hands and feet bound and duct tape over his mouth.

John Laubach, 57, well known by locals for carrying a parrot on his shoulder, was found tied to a bedpost with an electrical cord by a female friend.

The Manhattan apartment had been ransacked, however, police found no signs of forced entry.

Two teenagers have been charged with murder after allegedly being caught on camera killing an 18-year-old.

A Belfast coroner has found that a man murdered his wife and then, a short time later, took his own life in a nearby forest.

Sharon and Philip Hull, from Antrim, died in October 2010, leaving three young children.

Coroner Brian Sherrard found that Mr Hull murdered his wife early in the morning at the family home in Carnbeg Meadows.

The parents of a toddler who died from malnutrition months after being released from foster care have been charged with her murder.

Jennifer Dalhover, 36, and Joseph Sandoval, 21, from Los Angeles, appeared in court today and were held in lieu of $1-million bail. The parents did not enter pleas and are scheduled to return to court March 21.

Vyctorya Sandoval died months after she was taken out of foster care and returned to her biological parents last April.

Pet dog leads French murderer to police

A missing man has been arrested for strangling and dismembering his girlfriend, after his dog inadvertently helped police to track him down.

“It is said that the acts of violence occurred during the night of the 15th of January. In the middle of a quarrel, he felt threatened by a knife that the victim was yielding, and he proceeded to strangle her,” said prosecutor Eric Lallement at a press conference in Dijon’s city court on Thursday, according to newspaper Le Bien Public.

“He lived several days with the corpse of the young woman, and then he decided to dispose of it in Dijon, around the end of January or the beginning of February,” he said.

The man allegedly used a knife to cut the body into at least three pieces, and then used a shopping trolley to aid in disposing of the body parts. The man stashed the woman’s bust in a vacant lot, one of her legs in a park, and the other leg in a nearby square.

A mother who admitted killing her newborn baby has already been convicted of disposing of the body of another newborn.

The woman, who has interim name suppression, appeared at Christchurch District Court yesterday where she admitted infanticide.

Police said she gave birth in October 2010 after hiding the pregnancy from her family. She then killed the baby and hid the corpse in her wardrobe for 45 days.

Earl Anthony Dunn was standing near the rear of his truck in a suburb of Los Angeles when a motorist struck him and pinned him against his vehicle.

Shock over lonely death of mother and son

Neighbours are struggling to come to terms with the deaths of a man and his elderly mother in Brisbane's north.

The bodies of the 83-year-old woman and her 51-year-old son were discovered yesterday at their Enoggera home.

They were last seen alive together nine days ago.

Police believe that after the son died suddenly, his mother was not able to call for help and also died.

Gary Allen Banning burst into flames after the cigarette ignited some of the liquid he had spilled on his clothes.
