Brooklyn man nearly decapitated his wife when he killed her with a kitchen knife, cops said

A churchgoing Brooklyn grandmother was nearly decapitated when her crazed husband killed her with a kitchen knife in front of her 4-year-old grandson Sunday, police and relatives said. The victim, Hazel Robinson, 51, was attacked about 11:45 a.m. by her husband, Ian Robinson, in the home they shared on E. 102nd St. in Canarsie, relatives and police sources said. Ian Robinson, 58, went berserk and stabbed her in the neck, partially severing her head, police sources said. The victim’s grandson, who was in the home, watched the horrific attack. “It was gruesome,” said Lydon Laing, Hazel Robinson’s brother. “He witnessed everything.”

Man bashed partner with shovel, left her lying in pool of blood court told

A Napier man fractured his partner's skull when he allegedly hit her with a spade and left her lying in a pool of blood after an argument, a court has heard. A jury trial for Andrew Tauira Whatarau began today at the Napier District Court in which he is defending a charge of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. The incident occurred in the early hours of April 22 last year at Whatarau's residence in Maraenui after the two had attended a party at a friend's house. The woman was taken to hospital with injuries that included a six centimetre wound to the back of her head, a fractured skull and bleeding around the brain, crown prosecutor Nicola Graham told the court. After returning from the party to find herself locked out of the house, she proceeded to smash several windows before Whatarau allegedly hit her with the garden spade. "He ran outside and hit her in the head with it," Mrs Graham said. "Afterwards he then went back inside . . . he left her, literally, lying in a pool of blood." She said his response was "definitely" not reasonable given the circumstances.

Two dead as car hits telegraph pole

Two 19-year-old men have died in an early morning car crash in Shotts, North Lanarkshire, police have said. Scott Wilson, from Cleland, and Steven Scott, from Shotts, died when their Renault Clio left the B717 Benhar Road at about 01:50 on Saturday. The car hit a telegraph pole and two trees. Two other men in the car were injured. A 20-year-old suffered a punctured lung and was described as serious but stable and a 17-year-old broke his leg.

Boy, 12, suffers 80 percent burns after setting fire to himself while lighting up ant hill

A common children's game went horribly awry and sent a young boy to a hospital. A 12-year-old boy accidentally lit himself on fire when he was attempting to burn ant hills in his backyard at the 4700 block of County Road 4704 in Dayton, Texas, a suburb of Houston. According to The Houston Chronicle the boy, who has not been identified, was using gasoline.

Day, who was dating Phillips when the November 2009 killings occurred, said Phillips had provided details of the victims' deaths that made her believe that he was there. But an inmate testified that Phillips told him that he helped plan the crimes, but he was not present when the killings happened.

Teenager shot dead and boy, 16, fatally stabbed within five hours as London is gripped by night of violence

Two teenagers were murdered within five hours yesterday as London was gripped by a night of gun and knife crime. A 19-year-old man was murdered in a suspected gang-related double shooting on Hindrey Road in Clapton, east London, at 8:20pm yesterday, and a 22-year-old was injured and taken to hospital. Five hours later at 1:30am on Neville Gill Close in Wandsworth, south-west London, a 16-year-old boy was stabbed and confirmed dead in a ground floor stairwell of the Albon House block of flats.

Homeowner shoots dead 'mentally disabled' 15-year-old burglar in his backyard during botched break-in

A homeowner in St. Louis, Missouri, gunned down a 15-year-old boy during an attempted burglary Friday night. Police say the victim, Demterius Murphy, and his alleged accomplice, 17-year-old Michael Bryant, were trying to burglarize a home in the Gravois Park section of St Louis. The homeowner, a 33-year-old white male, went outside to investigate and reportedly shot Murphy, who was black, as the teen approached him.
