Rapist 'claimed to be a detective scrubbed victim's body with bleach and gave her bus fare to get home'

A 35-year-old convict has been arrested for kidnapping and raping a Minneapolis woman, then scrubbing her with bleach in a failed attempt to hide his tracks. Gideon Charles Arrington II, who is also accused of impersonating a detective, allegedly gave his victim money for a bus fare after raping her twice. The November 23 attack is the third to take place near the University of Minnesota campus, but police have not confirmed if the cases are linked. In the case allegedly involving Arrington, the convicted robber is accused of blindfolding, handcuffing and forcing a careworker into his car in Fridley at about 1pm.

She said he claimed to be with the police, and used the word 'detective' before kidnapping her. The 32-year-old woman said her attacker drove to an unknown location where he assaulted her twice over several hours and threatened to kill her. According to a criminal complaint seen by the Star Tribune, after each assault the rapist 'scrubbed her entire body with a bleach-type solution'. The attacker also took the woman's clothing and washed it. Eventually the woman was forced back into the car and driven for about 10 minutes. The attacker then removed the blindfold, gave her $2 and told her to walk to a bus stop. 'It was dark and very cold, and … she was very fearful and had no idea where she was,' the complaint said.

Teen 'drunk' driver killed three passengers in late-night crash and took off on foot before emergency responders got to the scene

The three passengers in a car with a drunk driver have died while he now faces death by auto charges for each of his friends. Luis Delcid-Cardona has been identified as the 19-year-old driver who fled from the scene by foot when his three friends lay dead or dying on a New Jersey highway early Thursday morning. The two female backseat passengers- 20-year-old Nicole Rodriguez and 18-year-old Samantha Belliveau- were pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. Ms Rodriguez was partially ejected from the vehicle while Ms Belliveau was completely outside of the car when police arrived on the scene. Both young women had recently graduated from Steinert High School. The third passenger, 19-year-old Jonathan Rivas, was sitting in the front seat and his condition was initially labeled as critical when he was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center. Hours later, he died from what police described to local ABC 6 as extremely grave injuries. The driver, Delcit-Cardona, fled the scene and ran to his cousin's house.

Two women were shot dead in suspected "mercy killings" at a Southern California nursing home and apartment complex Wednesday morning. Los Angeles Detective Lt. Paul Brenon said Lance Holger Anderson "walked straight in, never threatening anyone else" before shooting his disabled sister in the head at a North Hills medical facility. The 58-year-old victim identified as Lisa Nave was described as having been in a vegetative condition for the last five years when Anderson, 60, allegedly walked up to her and pulled out a gun.

Police say, just after Nave's shooting, a separate call came in reporting a second body discovered belonging to one of Nave's relatives who was also disabled. "Apparently, from what family told me, she had some aspect of dementia or mental problems," said Brenon who described the two related deaths as possible "mercy killings." "That doesn't justify what he did but it gives the premise or motive behind it," he said. The body is believed to belong to Anderson's wife, according to the police department. Brenon said a relative had learned about Nave's death and feared the same thing could happen to Anderson's wife so the relative called police.

One of those executed Thursday was Ryoji Kagayama, 63, who stabbed to death a student from China after robbing her in 2000 in Osaka. He also knifed a man to death in 2008 in a failed robbery attempt. He was sentenced to death in 2012. The other prisoner was Mitsuo Fujishima, 55, who drowned a relative of his former wife in a bath in 1986 and murdered an acquaintance of her days later in Yamanashi Prefecture. Japan now has 129 inmates on death row, according to justice ministry data.

'My eyes were fixed on the knife and the mask,' she said. 'His thumb was on the Stanley knife as if the blade was ready to be flicked.' The woman was saved when her dog lunged at Suddons who then fled but was stopped when a cyclist caught up with him and returned him to the scene. Prosecutor David Outterside said that Suddons carefully planned the attack and hoped his rape kit would help him avoid the mistakes he made which led to his arrest for the 2004 offences. He said the gloves and condom were to ensure Suddons deposited no DNA and the balaclava was to hide his identity. 'What was on his mind was rape. This time he was prepared and was absolutely determined not to be caught. He thought he could get clean away with it but he was caught red-handed.'

He was also convicted of raping the women. State and federal courts denied Lott's appeals.

New mother and her unborn baby died 'when doctors spent six hours deciding the best treatment' after she went into premature labour

A mother and her unborn child both died after inexperienced hospital staff dithered about her treatment after a scan showed the baby was dying, her parents have claimed. Carly Harper, 24, was five months pregnant with her first son when she went to hospital with ruptured membranes on May 17 last year. Two days later she developed a serious infection and was sweaty with a fluctuating temperature, key symptoms of septic shock.

She was taken straight to intensive care and placed on a ventilator, but died of multiple organ failure at 9.10am the next day with her family at her bedside.
