A 21-year-old New York man told police he 'just snapped' and beat his high school sweetheart to death with a curling iron while visiting her college dorm last month. Clayton Whittemore of New Hartford, New York told a Monroe County police officer that he and his girlfriend, 18-year-old Alexandra Kogut, started shoving each other during an argument about 'stupid stuff' in her dorm room at the State University of New York College at Brockport. Whittemore said as the shoving match escalated, he could hear Kogut's breathing sounded irregular, so he grabbed a curling iron and beat his girlfriend of a year to death with it because 'he loved her and didn't want her to suffer,' according to the Associated Press.
