Man Attacked with Molotov Cocktail

LONG BEACH, Calif. (KTLA) -- Police have released terrifying surveillance video of a Molotov cocktail attack on a man who was waiting outside a market in Long Beach. The attack happened about 7 p.m. Friday at Ranch Market in the 200 block of W. Pacific Coast Highway. Police say a 54-year-old man was waiting for his father outside the store when a man in his 20s stepped out from an alley and tossed a bottle filled with an explosive liquid at his feet. The Molotov cocktail exploded, covering the victim in flames while the suspect fled the scene. "It's a serious crime," said Long Beach police Sgt. Aaron Eaton. "It's a crime that I haven't seen in my time as a law enforcement officer." "It's just unbelievable that someone would use that type of weapon against somebody," Eaton added. Paramedics rushed the victim to a local hospital, where he was listed in serious but stable condition. He is expected to recover.
