Butcher knife-wielding man shot, killed by police in Bridgeport

A butcher knife-wielding man was shot and killed by police after he lunged at officers attempting to quell a domestic dispute inside a Bridgeport apartment early Friday.

The officers told the Valdez to drop the knives several times, but instead he lunged toward them with the knives still in hand, police said. In self-defense, one of the officers drew his weapon and fatally shot Valdez about 1:10 a.m., authorities said.
