A colossal explosion lit up the night sky above Phuket on Wednesday, sparking a massive police response and leaving family members scrambling for answers.
Local media reports suggest around 1,000 workers were inside a SuperCheap store in Southern Thailand at about 9:40 p.m. when the structure went up in a blaze.
The flames leapt high into the sky and could be seen from miles away, Phuketwan reports. Firefighters were still working to bring the blaze under control as it spread to a metal working shop and a car rental shop on Thursday morning.
Although an official death count has not been released, rescue workers expect to find burned bodies inside the building once the fire dies down.
The injured are already arriving at the Phuket Hospital. Family members also rushed to the hospital, hoping for news about their missing loved ones.

"He who can, does. He who cannot, teaches."
"Being is substance and life; life manifests by movement; movement is perpetuated by equilibrium; equilibrium is therefore the law of immortality.
"The doctrine of equality!... But there exists no more poisonous poison: for it seems to be preached by justice itself, while it is the end of justice.... "Equality for equals, inequality for unequals" that would be the true voice of justice: and, what follows from it, "Never make equal what is unequal."
