Mother admits killing three-month-old daughter after falling asleep drunk with her hair dryer on because it 'helped her sleep'

A mother has confessed to killing her three-month-old daughter after the newborn was found dead at their home last October. Rebecca Carroll pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter on Monday. The lifeless body of Rebelle Rose Keene was found in her bed, covered in third-degree burns. Carroll was drunk at the time of the young girl’s death, police said.

She had been on a night out, arriving back at their Arcata, California home in the early hours of the morning. The mother took a shower, before falling asleep on her bed next to her daughter, while a hair dryer continued to run. Baby Rebelle was found dead six hours later, having gone into shock as a result of her horrific burns, times-standard.com reported. Bizarrely, Carroll has said she finds the sound of the blow dryer comforting, that it helps her to sleep.
