HIROSHIMA — Police said Tuesday they have arrested a 28-year-old woman over the death of her 11-year-old daughter at their home in Fuchu, Hiroshima Prefecture. According to police, the suspect, identified as Asato Horiuchi, allegedly beat her daughter Yuma with a golf club on Monday morning at about 11 a.m., Fuji TV reported. While she was driving her daughter over to her parents’ house in the afternoon, Yuma lost consciousness and Horiuchi stopped at a police koban for help. The girl was taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead a short time later, police said.

Horiuchi was quoted by police as saying that she got angry because her daughter lied to her.
