WINNIPEG — Winnipeg police have finally confirmed that two toddlers who drowned in their Winnipeg home this summer died as the result of a double murder-suicide at the hands of their mother, Lisa Gibson.
Anna Gibson, 2, and Nicholas Gibson, 3 months, died as the result of drowning after being found in a bathtub in their home July 24, Const. Jason Michalyshen said Thursday.
Lisa Gibson's body was found in the Red River near the Alexander Docks on July 27. Police would not reveal when she actually died. Nor would they confirm reports that she had been suffering from postpartum psychosis.
"I know there were a lot of questions about that at the time," Michalyshen said. "We're absolutely sensitive to that. Our goal, with respect to the homicide investigation, is to determine exactly what took place.”
