11 bodies found in Kazakh mountain gorge

The victims were found in a national park near Ile-Alatau National Park in southern Almaty Province, near the border with China and Kyrgyzstan. Two corpses were found inside a local 76-year-old park ranger's house and were identified as his 53-year-old common-law wife and his 60-year-old employee. The ranger himself, another 43-year-old male and a 73-year-old female were found dead nearby. All victims had multiple stab wounds. Police are currently identifying the other six victims. The Interior ministry said that police had not yet established a motive for the crime. According to Fowler’s testimony, the family had also reportedly viewed videos on the internet about “a fallen angel” and demons. Corazon Paulino Flores, 70, received a 475 years-to-life in state prison from San Diego Superior Court Judge Runston Maino for 27 felony counts of child molestation and rape, San Diego County District Attorney Bonnie M. Dumanis announced Monday. A jury convicted Flores in June after Deputy DA Tracy Prior told them the defendant would take his two daughters to remote locations, rape them, and threaten them with knives and guns. In an odd and ironic turn of events Beverly Hills police say a hearse driver who was found dead with a body in the vehicle died while taking the casket to a funeral. The body was discovered inside the hearse at round 3 p.m. where it was parked on the side of the road near the Beverly Hills Hotel on Crescent Drive, near to Sunset Boulevard. A passerby reported the body of a woman slumped behind the steering wheel and upon investigation police have found no evidence of foul play and suspect the death was due to natural causes.

Off-duty cop kills angry dad after hurting the man’s daughter with his motorcycle

An off-duty Chicago police officer injured a 4-year-old girl with his motorcycle, and then shot and killed her outraged father. Fraternal Order of Police Spokesman Pat Camden said the cop “fired in defense of his life,” the Chicago Sun-Times reported. The 43-year-old officer, an eight-year veteran of the force, intentionally ditched his motorcycle Saturday night in Maywood when he saw the little girl – identified by WLS-TV as Taniyah Middleton – suddenly run into his path. The downed bike skidded down the street, slamming into the 4-year-old and her 18-year-old cousin John Passley, who had rushed to help her. As the officer tried to help, her 26-year-old dad, Christopher Middleton, came out of a nearby restaurant. Officials said he was visibly angry and shouting. After the officer identified himself as a cop, Middleton punched him in the face and continued to pummel him after he fell to the ground. Passley allegedly joined in by kicking the officer. “He was about to lose consciousness to people beating him,” Camden said. The cop drew his gun and fired once at Middleton. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital later Saturday night, leaving behind a 6-year-old son and an unborn child as well as his daughter.

Sentencing the trio to a total of 24 years, Judge John Phipps said mobile phone footage of part of the attack 'demonstrated the callous way in which the defendants went about these offences and the pack mentality which accompanied them. 'Whether or not the events were planned before she got to the house, what happened to her after she arrived at the house amounted to a protracted, frightening and humiliating ordeal for her. She was treated with contempt,' he said. 'It was a group attack, a sustained attack, and the offences involved keeping her in the house against her will and threats of a knife.'

Two remanded after gruesome puppy torture

A 32-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man were remanded on Sunday on the suspicion of aggravated animal cruelty. It is believed that they killed two dogs, one of which was a 10-week-old American Staffordshire Terrier, which was found dead and dismembered after the pair initially had reported it stolen. The puppy’s body was discovered in the middle of June in Tumba, south of Stockholm. Gunmen kill 19 Christian worshippers in attack on church in Nigeria

"The attack was from unknown gunmen at the Deeper Life Church," said Lt. Col. Gabriel Olorunyomi, head of the military's Joint Task Force (JTF) in Kogi state, "They were doing their normal Monday evening service. When we went there we discovered the church had been attacked. Vanvlerah pleaded guilty in January to incest, statutory sodomy and statutory rape in the attacks against her daughter, who is 3 but who was 5 months old when the pair first attacked her.

However, she said the girl is improving day by day and “is no longer Tessa’s plaything and she is no longer Tessa’s child.” Vanvlerah was arrested in 2010 following the arrest of 49-year-old Kenneth Kyle, a California State University East Bay professor, on child pornography charges. Along with hundreds of child porn images on Kyle’s computers, investigators found information that led them to the St. Louis area, where Kyle had visited Vanvlerah four times in five months since meeting online. During those visits, prosecutors say the pair had sex with the girl and each other at various hotels.

DALLAS — A Texas woman who was found innocent by reason of insanity after cutting off her baby's arms has been working at a store outside Dallas. Dena Schlosser made national headlines in 2004 after her 10-month-old daughter's death. She told psychiatrists that God had told her to do it. Schlosser was committed to a state mental hospital after her trial, per Texas law. Dallas television station WFAA reports that she was released in 2008 after a judge said she no longer needed hospitalization, but she was committed again in 2010. The two are charged with murder in the shooting death of Torres on Saturday morning. The murder happened in west Harris County at 3:30am Saturday. Both men are charged with shooting Torres fatally, but prosecutors say they believe the father fired the fatal shot after some sort of fight broke out, calling the incident a "past history argument" which escalated. With several people in two cars, Javier Torres became the target of a shooting. His family did not say exactly why anyone would target him, but they say this crime was deliberate. Family spokesperson Mandi Guerrero said, "It's just disgusting. It's unthinkable. It's unthinkable. I have no idea what could be going through that father's mind to drive his child to kill other people."

Una man accused of recording sex acts with minors, dog

A Spartanburg man is facing a slew of new sexual assault and exploitation charges following his arrest in June. The Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office first charged James Dimsdale, 38, of 174 Euclid Road, Una, with two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor, but further review of the case added 10 new charges. Dimsdale also is charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct and eight counts of first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. He also is accused of videotaping himself performing a sex act on a dog. Investigators began looking into the case on June 18 when the mother of a 14-year-old girl brought her daughter to the sheriff's office to report a sexual assault. Lt. Tony Ivey said that a detailed investigation into the allegation uncovered a history of sexual abuse dating back to 2003. Dimsdale's ex-wife Lisa M. Winkler, 29, of 160 New St., Spartanburg, also was charged with second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor. Dimsdale and Winkler are accused of sex crimes involving a female juvenile relative of Winkler and another female juvenile.

French surfer loses hand and foot after horrific shark attack in the Indian Ocean

Mass shooting at Sikh temple: At least seven dead and dozens injured after gunman launches killing spree before he's shot dead by police

At least six people were killed Sunday when a gunman opened fire at a Sikh temple near Milwaukee, authorities said. The suspected shooter was later killed in exchange of gunfire with police. Four victims were killed inside Sikh Temple of Wisconsin during a holy ceremony and three were murdered outside the building after at least one gunman struck around 10.30am, police confirmed. Photographers in the late 1800s had a macabre sense of humour, as seen in this series of trick pictures dating back to the Victorian Age. In a photo montage from the George Eastman House Collection, manipulated snapshots include a Albumen print of a decapitated man holding his head and butcher knife dripping with blood, an attack scene of an aggressor dressed in a suit of armour and a man's face superimposed on a mummy, gazing squarely ahead at onlookers. The picture collection, dated circa 1875, shows photographers experimenting with the new technique in their work.
