HOUSTON - Houston police have launched an animal cruelty investigation after a horse was badly beaten and then set on fire in Acres Homes, Local 2 Investigates learned Thursday.
The mortally-wounded horse was found in the 9600 block of West Montgomery Road on Sunday, where officers said the horse had been beaten and then doused with kerosene before being set on fire and left on the property.
Livestock officers arrived on Sunday and the horse was still alive, but vets euthanized the animal a short time later.
