The death of a man and a woman in a southwestern Newfoundland medical clinic was a murder-suicide, police have confirmed.
On Monday, Luke Chaisson, 54, walked into the Degrau Medical Clinic in Port au Port and shot his wife, Stephanie Chaisson, 49, police said.
When he entered the clinic, he told a witness to leave.
The witness later told police they heard gunshots. A co-worker of Stephanie Chaisson also heard the shots, saw her on the flood, and fled the clinic to call for help. Luke Chaisson was alive when police arrived, but later died in hospital.

"He who can, does. He who cannot, teaches."
"Being is substance and life; life manifests by movement; movement is perpetuated by equilibrium; equilibrium is therefore the law of immortality.
"The doctrine of equality!... But there exists no more poisonous poison: for it seems to be preached by justice itself, while it is the end of justice.... "Equality for equals, inequality for unequals" that would be the true voice of justice: and, what follows from it, "Never make equal what is unequal."
